Chicco Cd Player

My son received the Chicco CD player for his birthday last year.  Since he loves to sing and dance around the house, he was absolutely smitten with it.  He was so excited to be able to sing along to his favorite songs on the little microphone.  While he may have been in love with it, I wasn't as thrilled that it was now going to be taking up space in my home.

First let me start by saying that it isn't completely the CD players fault.  Little kids are tough on toys; any of you who have children can vouch for that.  The CD's are constantly getting scratched and the battery cover has gone missing.  But I digress, the Chicco CD player itself is made of plastic and should hold up to little hands.  It doesn't.  If we moved it one millimeter, it would skip like crazy.  Try telling a three year old that he can't touch his CD player.  If you run this for about an hour every day for about four days, the batteries will go dead so plan on spending the extra money on some kind of ac adapter for this thing.

The thing that really gets me is that the product is so expensive!  The Chicco CD player typically runs around $45.00 although I suppose that it's possible to find it cheaper than that.  I could probably go out and buy an adult player for cheaper and get a lot more use out of it.  Although I doubt that my son would be as fascinated with a boring black CD player as he was with the happy primary colors of the Chicco CD player.

While I didn't have any problems with it falling apart, I did read some reviews from others that said that the CD door fell off and that the plastic cracked.  Almost everyone agreed with me that the player couldn't be moved because it wouldn't play any CD's if it was and some individuals even stated that they could never get the player to work in the first place.  Other said that one drop on the floor and it was all over for the poor Chicco CD player; an interesting concept since its made for little people with poor hand eye coordination.

All I can say is that buyers need to beware.  Make sure that you read before you buy.  Do the research and find a product that can take a beating from your children.
